Silver Earrings Are Jewelry Matchmakers

June 7th, 2010

If you think that your silver earrings don’t need to match the outfit you are wearing then you may need to think again. I am not claiming to be a silver earrings expert, but there are some simple fashion rules you should consider. One rule is that silver jewelry can magnify an outfit or it can repel an outfit. You need to be careful as to which outfit colors and the type of earrings you wear. If you are wearing stud silver earrings, for example, you can get away with more casual clothes. But if you decide to wear dangle or drop silver earrings, the margin for error in terms of a fashion disaster becomes narrower.

So the question that needs to be answered is how do you provide a friendly match between your silver earrings and your wardrobe. That brings me to the second rule which addresses color patterns. Color patterns can be very tricky or they can be very simple. Silver falls within the neutral color family so you have a bit more flexibility if you don’t get too eccentric with your dress, high heels, or hair. So if you are going to be eccentric then it is best to not wear silver earrings. It’s as simple as that.

The last rule that I want to convey is that silver earrings should mesh with other silver jewelry pieces you own. Don’t mix your silver earrings with a gold bracelet or a god necklace. Silver is the type of jewelry that looks great with its own kind. And when I say its own kind I am referring to the same metal. From a distance, it is difficult to tell the difference between silver and platinum. But for those who know their metals and their jewelry, know that a pair of silver earrings look different than a pair of platinum earrings.
